- 1-Butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium Triflate
1-Butyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium Trifluoromethanesulfonate (BDIM) is an organic compound that is used in the reduction process. It is synthetically produced from gadolinium chloride and trimethylsulfonium iodide with a high yield. The reaction is catalyzed by a base such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide and takes place at temperatures between 100 and 150 °C. BDIM can also be used for catalysis of organic reactions and solvents such as benzene, toluene, xylene, hexane, tetrahydrofuran, dioxane, chloroform, dichloromethane, chlorobenzene or dichloroethane.
