This new synthetic method is based on the preparation of aziridines from aryl chlorides and alkynes and the subsequent reactions with picolinic acid. The aziridines are prepared in good yields in short reaction times and with high stereoselectivity. The synthesis of (S)-4-tert-butyl-2-(2-pyridyl)oxazoline can be scaled up for preparative purposes. Optimization studies have led to a scalable synthesis of this compound, which can be applied to other challenging targets.
