Bis(tri-o-tolylphosphine)palladium(II) dichloride is a reagent used for the preparation of furans by catalyzing the reaction between methanol and various aryl halides. This compound is also used in coupling reactions, such as the synthesis of terpenes from fatty acids. Bis(tri-o-tolylphosphine)palladium(II) dichloride has been shown to promote carbonylation reactions, which are often used to form methyl groups from other organic substrates. For example, this compound is used in the preparation of stannyl compounds.
