1-Bromo-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzene is a hydrochloric acid salt that is soluble in water. It has an optical rotation of +201° and a boiling point of 208°C. 1-Bromo-3,5-di-tert-butylbenzene is activated by trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and reacts with metal ions to form coordination compounds. This substance has been shown to be fluorescent and it can be used as a precursor for carbonyl compounds. The compound crystallizes as a white solid that melts at 80°C.
