5-Bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is a synthetic organic chemical compound that belongs to the class of pyridines. It can be obtained by reacting butyllithium with 5-bromopyridine. The molecule has a molecular electrostatic potential that is similar to the chemokine CXCL1, which may explain its minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) value against this molecule. The vibrational spectra of 5-bromo-2-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine have been determined in the range of 0.03-10 THz, where it was observed that there is an interaction energy between two hydrogen atoms in the molecule. X-ray crystal structures have also been obtained for this compound and its reaction vessel, showing that it reacts with an organic solvent. This synthesis process proceeds through the introduction of bromine into a substituted pyridine ring and requires no additional reagents
