• Descrição: S-Benzylisothiourea hydrochloride (SBIT) is a potent inhibitor of the influenza virus by binding to the polymerase domain of the virus’s RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. SBIT inhibits viral transcription and replication, as well as viral assembly, release, and infectivity. SBIT has been shown to inhibit avian influenza A/H5N1 in cell culture and in mice models with no observable adverse effects. The mechanism of action for this drug is not yet understood but may be related to its ability to inhibit the kinase domain of avian influenza NS1 protein which is involved in regulating inflammatory responses.
