4'-Bromo-3-chloropropiophenone is a heterocycle that can be used as a precursor in the synthesis of other oxygen heterocycles. It has been shown to mediate the oxidation of alcohols and amines, which can be used as a tool for stereoselective synthesis. The chemoenzymatic synthesis of 4'-bromo-3-chloropropiophenone is based on the chemical reactions between two reactants: 4'-bromo-3-chlorobenzophenone and potassium chloropropoxide. This reaction occurs with high yields and at room temperature. The stereospecificity of this reaction is due to the presence of chiral catalysts in the reaction mixture, which have been shown to selectively produce one enantiomer over the other.
