Descrição:
4-Bromophthalic acid is a reactive compound that is used in wastewater treatment. It has been shown to bind with cationic polymers and form hydrogen bonds, which helps to remove organic contaminants from the water. 4-Bromophthalic acid can also be used as a monomer in the polymerization of cationic polymers. It reacts with malonic acid to produce the nucleophilic anion, which then reacts with the electrophilic carbonyl group on the aryl halide. This reaction results in the formation of an ester linkage between two molecules of 4-bromophthalic acid. The use of 4-bromophthalic acid can be beneficial for industrial chemists because it is more reactive than other brominated carboxylic acids.
