It is also used as an activator for other chemicals in organic synthesis reactions. The activation energy of n-butyl trifluoroacetate is 10.2 kJ/mol. Deionized water and organic solvents are the reactants that produce this chemical compound. Dopamine d3 is an alcohol group that reacts with the hydroxyl group on the carbon tetrachloride molecule to form n-butyl trifluoroacetate. The reaction requires heat as well as a catalyst, such as metal ions or water vapor. This chemical has been shown to be carcinogenic in cell culture studies with mice and rats.
