- 1-Bromo-2-fluorocyclohexane
1-Bromo-2-fluorocyclohexane (1-BCH) is a molecule of the type that can undergo elimination reactions. It is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of bioactive molecules, such as 1-bromocyclohexanol and 3,4-dichlorobenzoyl chloride. The elimination reactions of 1-BCH are first order with respect to reactants and second order with respect to the concentration of 1-BCH. The rate constant for these reactions is influenced by the chloride ion concentration. The elimination reactions are catalyzed by sodamide or hydrogen fluoride. The molecular formula of 1-BCH is C6H11BrF2, which has two isomers: cis and trans.
