It can activate 1-methylimidazole to form an imidazolyl phosphoramidate, which is then converted to the corresponding phosphite or nucleoside. 5-[3,5-Bis(Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]-2H-Tetrazole has been shown to be an efficient activator of oligodeoxynucleotide synthesis and has been used in the chemical synthesis of oligodeoxynucleotides with high efficiency. 5-[3,5-Bis(Trifluoromethyl)Phenyl]-2H-Tetrazole exhibits orthogonal reactivity with carboxylic acids and triflate groups.
