Alpha-Bromo-4-(Trifluoromethoxy)-Benzenepropanoic Acid Methyl Ester is a hydantoin prodrug that has been shown to inhibit aggrecanase, an enzyme involved in the degradation of cartilage. This drug also has inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to induce tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and IL-6 production. Alpha-Bromo-4-(Trifluoromethoxy)-Benzenepropanoic Acid Methyl Ester binds with high affinity to both water and organic solvents, which allows it to be used as a solvate. This solvation property may contribute towards the pathological condition that this drug is indicated for.
