3-Anilino-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl)acrylonitrile is a versatile intermediate that can be used to synthesize a wide range of methoxy, propyl, and dimethyl amino compounds. This compound can be recycled without loss of its reactivity. It has a high yield and is environmentally friendly. 3-Anilino-2-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzyl)acrylonitrile crystallizes from solvents such as benzaldehyde or ethyl acetate with a melting point of 119°C. It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of target products such as dimethyl malonate. The bottleneck in the synthesis of this compound is the benzaldehyde used to generate 3-anilinoacrylic acid.
