5-Chloro-2-thiophenesulfonyl chloride is a chemical compound that is used as an inhibitor of γ-secretase. It binds to the active conformation of the enzyme, blocking its activity and reducing the production of β-amyloid. It also inhibits the catalysis of proteolytic enzymes by azides, which may be involved in other processes such as chemokine production. 5-Chloro-2-thiophenesulfonyl chloride is a white crystalline solid that has a melting point of about 117°C and no odor at room temperature.
