5-Chloropyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a phenoxy heterocyclic amine that has been shown to have antibacterial and antimycobacterial activities. It inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with MIC values of 8 and 16 μg/mL respectively. This compound also shows bioisosteric properties, which means it can be used as an alternative for other compounds with similar chemical structures. 5-Chloropyrazine-2-carboxylic acid is a neutral compound that can be dissolved in water at any pH level. It is also soluble in organic solvents, such as hydrochloric acid, acetone, and ethanol.
