4-Chloro-4'-fluoro-3-nitrobenzophenone (CNFBP) is an ester that has been synthesized as a potential antimicrobial agent. It has been shown to have antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal activity against a wide range of bacteria and fungi. CNFBP inhibits the growth of bacteria by binding to the ribosomal RNA and inhibiting protein synthesis. This compound also inhibits the growth of fungi by interfering with cell wall synthesis. The mechanism for this inhibition is not yet known.
