4-Chloro-3-fluorobenzotrifluoride is a fluorinating agent that reacts with 3,4-difluorobenzoic acid to form 4-chloro-3-fluoroaniline. It is used in the manufacture of medicines and other chemicals. The first well-known use of fluorine was in the synthesis of sulfur hexafluoride for gas warfare during World War I.
