2-chloro-3-nitro-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity in vitro, and it has been found to be nonmutagenic and noncarcinogenic. This compound can also be used as an analog of tenidap, which is currently used commercially to treat arthritis.
