4-Chloro-2-fluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride is a chlorinating agent that is used as a catalyst in the synthesis of sulfonyl chlorides. The purity of the product can be improved by recrystallizing it from an acid solution, using a suitable catalyst. This process flow can be synthesized by reacting 4-chloro-2-fluorobenzenesulfonic acid with thionyl chloride in the presence of a base, such as pyridine. The substance is acidic and catalytic, which enables it to react with other substances. 4-Chloro-2-fluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride reacts with ammonia to form ammonium chloride, which is then converted into ammonium sulfate during acidification.
4-Chloro-2-fluorobenzenesulphonyl chloride does not contain chlorine or hydrogen atoms and is not an oxidizer or reducer.
