5-Chloro-2-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride is a potent compound that has been shown to inhibit the p2x receptor and reduce inflammation. It has also been shown to be an effective treatment for bladder inflammation. This drug is being studied as a possible treatment for astrocytoma cells by inhibiting the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α. 5-Chloro-2-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride binds to extracellular receptors, which prevents their activation by ATP, leading to reduced inflammation and pain. This compound was tested in a medicinal chemistry study and found to have allosteric modulatory effects on the platelet P2X receptor.
