Descrição:2-Chloro-6-methoxy benzothiazole is a heteroarene that has been shown to be deficient in electron density. It can be used as an intermediate for the production of imidazopyridines. It can also be used as a reagent in the preparation of nitrites, which are intermediates for the synthesis of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and explosives. 2-Chloro-6-methoxy benzothiazole can be recrystallized from an organic solvent such as ethanol or acetone. This compound is not soluble in water, but it does dissolve well in hydrochloric acid solution or hydrochloric acid with sodium nitrite as a catalyst.
