Descrição:o-Carborane-9-carboxylic acid (C9CA) is a new antitumour agent that has been shown to be effective against human tumour cells and tumour cell lines. C9CA also has a high affinity for the active site of the enzyme dihydrofolate reductase, which is involved in the synthesis of DNA. The antitumour activity of C9CA is mediated by its ability to inhibit DNA synthesis and induce apoptosis. C9CA has been shown to be less toxic than methotrexate and doxorubicin, with the potential for fewer side effects.
