5-(2-Chlorophenyl)-1H-tetrazole is a heterocyclic compound, which is formed by the trimerization of two molecules of 2-chlorobenzaldehyde. It has been shown to be a potent insecticide and exhibits anisotropy. Tetrazole derivatives are active against insects and have been used as pesticides in agriculture. The insect toxicity of 5-(2-chlorophenyl)-1H-tetrazole can be attributed to the alkylation of the protein with chlorinated aromatic compounds, which inhibits protein synthesis.
