4-Cyclohexylphenol is a natural compound that binds to the constitutive androstane receptor. This non-specific receptor is found in the brain, heart, kidney, and other organs. 4-Cyclohexylphenol can be used to determine the presence of constitutive androstane receptor in cells. The binding of 4-cyclohexylphenol to the constitutive androstane receptor changes the response pathway in cells by inhibiting or activating pathways that are linked to this receptor.
