Although b-chloralose has been shown to have negative effects on the cardiovascular system, it can be administered safely in combination with other anesthetics because it does not alter their effects. The use of b-chloralose is limited by its short duration of action and by adverse reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and convulsions.
