Informação sobre produto
3-Chloro-4-hydroxybenzyl alcohol (3CBA) is a phenylglycine analog that has been shown to have antibiotic activity. 3CBA is structurally related to glycine, which is an important molecule in the biosynthesis of proteins and polypeptides. 3CBA has been found to bind vancomycin, leading to the formation of a complex with a higher melting point than the original vancomycin molecule. The crystal structure of this complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction studies. 3CBA also inhibits fission of bacterial cells, due to its ability to inhibit oxidative phosphorylation. It also binds to DNA, leading to inhibition of transcription and replication. This leads to cell death by apoptosis or necrosis, depending on the type of bacteria being treated.
