The enantiopure form of (R)-3-chlorostyrene oxide was isolated from the fermentation broth of a strain of Streptomyces sp. (ATCC 927). This compound can be prepared by chemical ionization using electron impact ionization or chemical ionization with selected reaction monitoring (SRM) detection. Kinetic studies have shown that the enantiopure form of (R)-3-chlorostyrene oxide has a half life of 1 hour and causes death in rats
