Calcium citrate is a calcium supplement that is used to prevent or treat low levels of calcium in the blood. The active ingredient in this product, calcium citrate, is a salt of citric acid and calcium. Calcium citrate binds with stomach acid (hydrochloric acid) to form an insoluble compound that is not absorbed by the body. This product also contains fatty acids, which are important for animal experiments and carbon sources for chemical crosslinking. Sodium citrate along with other chemicals are also included in this product as they are necessary for the production of acidic phs. High detection can be achieved with l-threonine and sodium carbonate which react with light emission from fluorescent lamps to produce a yellowish glow. Calcium binding to light can be seen under ultraviolet light.
