AZD 2066 is a drug that has been shown to be effective in treating depression. It is an amide of rapamycin, which is a complex of the macrolide compound with the diketopiperazine moiety. AZD 2066 inhibits the activity of glutamate, acetylcholine, and serotonin reuptake, and enhances dopamine production. Clinical studies have shown that AZD 2066 has a beneficial effect on patients with neurologic disorders such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
