Captopril EP Impurity D is an impurity of Captopril. It is formed by the reaction of captopril with vitamin B12 in the synthesis process. The product is a chromatographic, synthesized, and ethyl ester of fatty acids. This impurity has been shown to be produced by a chromatographic method that separates it from other impurities in the product. Captopril EP Impurity D has been shown to have an enantiomeric excess (ee) of 99% on plates with an introducing agent and an extent of 50%. This impurity is hydrophobic and can be alkylated with corrin to form a more stable product.
