This compound was also found in the tubercle bacillus M. tuberculosis and has been shown to be effective against tuberculosis. 4-Chloro-2,6-dimethoxypyrimidine has also been reported to be a potential antihypertensive agent due to its ability to inhibit angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE).
