4-Chloro-3-nitrobenzoyl chloride is a copper compound that is used as a reagent for the synthesis of organic compounds. It can be prepared by reacting 4-chloro-3-nitrobenzoic acid with copper in the presence of an acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. The use of this reagent is limited to reactions involving an aromatic ring, although it can be used in reactions with a pyrrolidino group. 4-Chloro-3-nitrobenzoyl chloride reacts with phenyl groups to produce diazo compounds, which are useful intermediates for the production of other organic and inorganic compounds. This compound also has been shown to react with glycols and morpholinos to form nucleoside analogues.
