2-Chloro-5-nitroanisole is a chlorinated aromatic compound that has been shown to be active against Schistosoma mansoni. It is synthesized by reacting aniline with sodium nitrite in the presence of hydrochloric acid, followed by chlorination with phosphorus trichloride. 2-Chloro-5-nitroanisole is a nucleophilic compound with antibacterial activity that can be used to treat tuberculosis and schistosomiasis. It has also been used to activate wild type virus and can be synthesized using particle methods.
