2-Chlorophenylacetylene (2CAP) is a chemical compound that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. 2CAP is an allosteric modulator that binds to the β-unsaturated aldehydes on the cytosolic surface of mitochondria, which results in apoptosis. This compound also has anticancer properties that are mediated by its ability to induce cell death through mitochondrial pathway activation. 2CAP is synthesized from terminal alkynes and chloroformates using a biomolecular approach. It can be used as an anticancer drug due to its cytotoxic effect on cancer cells in vitro.
2CAP has been shown to have fluorescence properties that are similar to those of other compounds with anticancer activity.
