3-Chloropyridine N-oxide is a chlorinated analog of 3-chloropyridine. It is a ligand that has been studied extensively in coordination chemistry and organometallic synthesis. This compound is known to be an effective catalyst for the synthesis of hydrocarbons, such as ethylene, propylene, butadiene, and cyclohexene, from olefins. 3-Chloropyridine N-oxide has been shown to stabilize transition metal complexes by coordinating with the metal center. This stabilization allows for more efficient transfer of electrons from the metal to the organic substrate.
