Descrição

Cytochalasin C is a plant-derived natural product that can inhibit the growth of cells by interfering with the polymerization of actin filaments. It has been shown to have genotoxic effects in vitro and can be used as a control agent for protein synthesis. Cytochalasin C has also been found to inhibit the production of thymidine phosphorylase, which is an important enzyme in the metabolism of nucleotides, and can lead to metabolic disorders. Cytochalasin C binds to actin monomers and prevent them from polymerizing into more complex structures, such as microfilaments or stress fibers. This binding also inhibits ATP production, which leads to inhibition of cell growth.
