Carboxymethyldiphenylphosphine is a potential drug candidate that has been shown to have potent antibacterial effects against Streptococcus faecalis. It also has the potential to be used as an anti-inflammatory drug, although it is not yet known if this property is due to its redox potentials or metal ion properties. The compound has a phenyl group and a carboxymethyl group, which are two functional groups that can undergo elimination reactions. Carboxymethyldiphenylphosphine is also capable of binding to ferrocenecarboxylic acid and electrochemical studies have been conducted on this interaction.
