2-Chloro-4-methoxypyrimidine is a prebiotic molecule that belongs to the class of diazines. It has been shown to have an antiproliferative effect on human colon carcinoma cells and may be a possible therapeutic agent for the treatment of malignant diseases. The chemical transformation of 2-chloro-4-methoxypyrimidine has been studied extensively and it is known that hydrochloric acid, heat, and light can all induce a change in its structure. In addition, 2-chloro-4-methoxypyrimidine has been shown to interact with hydrogen bonds in water and form supramolecular complexes with other molecules.
