Carbonic acid di-2-pyridyl ester is a dehydration agent that belongs to the group of chloroformates. It can be used to prepare triphosgene, which is a reagent for the synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds. Carbonic acid di-2-pyridyl ester can also be used as a dehydrating agent for the preparation of chloroformates and amines, as well as for the synthesis of phosphorus oxychloride. This compound has high yields and can be used for preparative purposes. Carbonic acid di-2-pyridyl ester reacts with silver trifluoromethanesulfonate to produce an intermediate that can be converted into other compounds.
