- Phenol, 2-Chloro-3-Nitro-
2-Chloro-3-nitrophenol is a metabolite that is produced by the metabolism of 4-chloro-2-nitrophenol. It has been shown to have chemotactic properties and can be used as a carbon source for other organisms. 2-Chloro-3-nitrophenol has been shown to be metabolized in vivo, although the metabolic transformation pathways are not fully understood. This metabolite is also capable of inducing methanogenesis in some bacteria. The production of 2-chloro-3-nitrophenol is induced by mineralization and inducible by aspartate.
