This compound has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. 4-Chlorosalicylic acid is an active intermediate in the production of other drugs such as 2,4-dichloroacetophenone and 2,5-dichlorobenzonitrile.
