4-Chloro-2-fluoronitrobenzene is a phthalic acid derivative that can be used as a starting material for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. It is also a component of perfumes, pesticides, and dyes. The compound reacts with dimethylformamide and xylene to give 4-chloro-2-fluoroaniline, which can be aminated with ammonium chloride to give 4-chloro-2-fluoronitrobenzene. This compound can then be acetylated or chlorinated to produce other derivatives. 4-Chloro-2-fluoronitrobenzene has been shown to have low solubility in polar solvents such as water and methanol but high solubility in nonpolar solvents such as dichloromethane or mesitylene. This property makes it an innovative solvent for use in chemical reactions.
