4-Chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid is a synthetic intermediate, which is used in the synthesis process of many chemical products. It can be prepared by diazotization of 4-aminoanisole with sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid. This compound has been shown to adsorb various compounds, such as alkaline, aliphatic, diethylene glycols, glycerophosphates and ethers. It also has a high affinity for activated metal ions such as Fe3+, Cu2+, Zn2+, and Ca2+. 4-Chloro-2-aminophenol-6-sulfonic acid is soluble in water at pH 8 or higher.
