2-Chloro-6-(1-piperazinyl)pyrazine is a potent diastolic pressure and locomotor activity lowering agent that has been shown to be an intracellular target for dopamine. This drug is a high-resistance, 5-HT receptor affinity ligand with a high detection sensitivity. 2-Chloro-6-(1-piperazinyl)pyrazine has been shown to reduce the effects of ischemic brain damage in rat striatal tissue. It also has antihypertensive properties, which may be due to its ability to block sodium channels and inhibit the reuptake of serotonin.
2-Chloro-6-(1-piperazinyl)pyrazine has also been shown to have antidepressant activity in wild type mice and 5HT2A receptors.
