4-Chloro-2,6-dimethylpyridine is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula C1Cl2N(CH3)2. It is a white crystalline solid that when dry is usually found as the chloride salt. This compound forms coordination complexes with metals and can be used for analyses of elemental chlorine, oxygen, nitrogen and carbon. 4-Chloro-2,6-dimethylpyridine has been shown to react with zinc ions, forming a tetrameric complex that has absorption bands at around 400 nm and at 545 nm. The hydrated form of 4-chloro-2,6-dimethylpyridine can be produced by adding water to it.END>
