2-Chloro-6-methoxyquinoline is a molecule that has been prepared synthetically by the palladium-catalyzed coupling of an organometallic reagent and a quinoxaline. The metal chelation of 2-chloro-6-methoxyquinoline to the quinoline moiety is a kinase selectivity for protein phosphatases, which are enzymes that regulate cellular signaling at the level of protein phosphorylation. Pharmacokinetic parameters have been determined for 2-chloro-6-methoxyquinoline in rats, which showed it had good oral absorption and was metabolized by oxidation at the methoxy group.
