Cycloheptanesulfonyl chloride is a hydroxyalkylating agent that is used in the production of various carboxylic acids. Cycloheptanesulfonyl chloride can be prepared by reacting chlorosulfonic acid with cycloheptane. The compound has been shown to react with amines to form sulfonamides, and it also reacts with alcohols to produce hydroxyalkyl compounds. Cycloheptanesulfonyl chloride can be used in the synthesis of nitro compounds and other organic compounds.
