ClAc-Gly-OH is a synthetic compound that was designed to have the same molecular shape as glucose. ClAc-Gly-OH has been shown to be an effective inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which is responsible for the breakdown of acetylcholine in the body. This inhibition leads to an increase in acetylcholine levels and an increase in muscle contractions. Additionally, this compound has been shown to inhibit the enzymes choline esterase and butyrylcholinesterase, which are also involved in the breakdown of acetylcholine. The chloride ion present on ClAc-Gly-OH is associated with its ability to bind to proteins such as antibodies, enzymes, and other molecules.
