4-Chloroindoline (CI) is an aniline that is used in the synthesis of aldehydes, which are valuable intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. CI has been shown to be selective for alkenes and does not react with other functional groups such as amines or nitriles. The reaction can also be carried out under mild conditions and high yields can be obtained by using CI as the acceptor in radical reactions. In addition, 4-chloroindoline dehydrogenation can be used to synthesize unactivated alkynes from dialdehydes.
