- 2-(Chloromethyl)-1,3-Oxazole
2-Chloromethyl-oxazole is a tetrahydropyran that is used as a synthetic intermediate in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. The drug has shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases and lung diseases, such as asthma. 2-Chloromethyl-oxazole binds to tyrosine kinase receptors and blocks their activation, which may lead to the inhibition of inflammatory responses. This drug also inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity, which may lead to an anti-inflammatory effect. 2-Chloromethyl-oxazole has been shown to have antiallergic properties and is also active against infectious diseases caused by bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus or Streptococcus pneumoniae. 2-Chloromethyl-oxazole binds to DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV in bacterial cells, leading to inhibition of protein synthesis
